Titan’s power play made the difference
The Remparts and the Titan started tonight at the K.C Irving Regional Center in Bathurst.
In the first period, the Titan takes advantage of a power play to open the score. Daniil Miromanov, a right forward, comes to the left wing and beats Evgeny Kiselev with a wrist shot. It’s 1-0 Acadie-Bathurst.
The Remparts replied halfway to the first twenty. Yanick Turcotte, well posted in front of the net, deflects Dmitry Buynitskiy’s shot and tie the game. Two minutes later, Derek Gentile takes a free puck and gave the 2-1 lead to the Remparts after 20 minutes.
The second period is all to the advantage of the Titan. First, in power play again, Vladimir Kuznetsov completes a superb pass of Rodrigo Abols. No chance for Kiselev and it’s tie again (2-2).
Acadie-Bathurst continues to put pressure on and a little more than a minute later, defenceman Adam Holwell scores under the left shoulder of the goaltender. The Titan takes the lead. 3-2 after 2 periods.
The Remparts tried everything in the 3rd, but could not capitalize, especially on the power play. Jeffrey Truchon-Viel sealed the game in an empty net. Final score: Titan 4, Remparts 2. Acadie-Bathurst take the 1-0 lead in the series.
On the side of the Remparts Yanick Turcotte, Matthew Boucher and Dmitry Buynitskiy returned tonight.
The second match will take place tomorrow, Saturday, March 25th, again at the K.C Irving Regional Center in Bathurst. The start of the game is scheduled for 6 pm (Quebec time).
