Nice win for the young Remparts!
The Remparts completed a four home game tonight by hosting the Moncton Wildcats at the Videotron Centre.
Defenceman Samuel Hould opens the scoring. His shot from the wrists beats goalie Matthew Waite over his left shoulder. The Wildcats replied later on the first period. Samuel Meisenheimer puts the puck behind Kiselev a few minutes later. So, tie game after one period.
The second period belongs totally to the Remparts. Two other defenceman scored. First, Darien Kielb beats Waite to his right with a good shot of the wrists. Then, Étienne Verrette, who plays very good hockey for the Remparts, goes to the net and redirects a return behind the Waite. Verrette scored his first goal in the QMJHL. Waite is replaced by Dominick Tmej. Before the end of the second period, the American Shaun Bily jumped in return on a throw-back and make it 4-1 Remparts after 40 minutes of play.
In the third period, only one goal is scored. Philipp Kurashev, on the powerplay, scored his 18th of the season. He joined Matthew Boucher (47 points). Final score : Remparts 5, Wildcats 1.
The bad streak for the Remparts stopped at 4 loss.
The next game is scheduled for Friday, March 3rd, while the Remparts will visit the Saguenéens at the Georges-Vézina Centre in Chicoutimi. The game will begin at 7:30 pm.
