16 wins in 18 games for Charlottetown
The Remparts continued their four home games tonight with a visit of the Charlottetown Islanders at the Videotron Centre.
Early in the game, the Islanders scored first in the scoring. Alex Dostie jumped on a return and scored his 24th of the season. A few minutes later, Switzerland’s Philipp Kurashev takes the long pass of Étienne Verrette and goes to the right wing. His shot from the wrists beats Grametbauer to his right, a 17th for Kurashev. Charlottetown will take the lead before the end of the first. Filip Chlapik scored against Baribeau to get the lead 2-1 for the Islanders after 20 minutes.
The second period belongs to the visitors. Dereck Baribeau is solid in front of his net and only a shot from the major leagues of Daniel Sprong beats him. A 19th in 21 games for Sprong. It was 3-1 Charlottetown after 40 minutes.
In the third, the Remparts reduced the score to 3-2. Andrew Coxhead deflects Darien Kielb’s shot to the right of Grametbauer. A fourth goal of the season for Coxhead, his first since November 26 (28 games). Then, also in power-play, the Islanders take the lead by two when Nicolas Meloche redirects the pass of Sprong behind Baribeau. The last goal is scored in an empty net (Brisebois 7th). Final score : Islanders 5, Remparts 2.
The Remparts were without another forward tonight. Dmitry Buynitskiy could not take part in the match.
Dereck Baribeau stopped 35 pucks in the loss.
The Remparts will complete this homecoming on Wednesday, March 1st, while the Moncton Wildcats will be the visitors. The game will begin at 7 pm.
